Cookies and Cold

December in the Northland has made up for the warm temperatures of November. We have returned to normal 20 degree highs and single digit lows (last night I think temp went below zero). Today I was out and about doing early yuletide cookie deliveries and enjoying the views of the lake. I also decided I need a new camera-mine just takes awful pictures in bright light.

These icicles were so sparkly in person-damn my camera

Yesterday we drove pass coccalla lake on the way down to Hayden Lake.
The lake had real thin layer ice on it.

Yea I know I didn't spell it right.

I told my hubby that you lived in Naples and I don't recall what milepost.

pagandawn: Thanks. I wish there was a group like tht here.

kim: thanks. Veggie chili and cornbread-can't do much better n a winter night.

peppylady: I stayed in a cabin on Lake Cocollala when I first moved to the area. It is so shallow.

I lived at mm 494.5, down the gravel road-above the art studio.

You seem to be a great cook/baker. I really liked the photos from your T.G. meal, too. Do you tend to make up the dishes or are they based on recipes you've found elsewhere?

I can cook well but only when based on a recipe (which I might follow exactly or modify). I wish I could be better at throwing something together (not that I'm saying that's what you do, especially not with those great looking cookies).

Anyway, anytime you care to share recipes here, know that at least one reader (and I'm fairly certain many others) will really appreciate it. If you start with the apple pie and other recipes from your T.G dinner, I would certainly not object in the least . . .

M: Thanks. I used to be the type that followed recipes meticuously. I was into buying many ingredients and I really made wonderful dishes. Lately I have adopted a more simple organic process. I will sometimes base a dish off of a recipe, but add many modifications.

The cookies, however, are pretty much old recipes I have been making for awhile (sometimes adding a bit of different flours). I did throw together a chai cookie. I got the idea from "My Green Dream" blog. I couldn't find any instant tea that her recipe called for so I sort of made up my own. They came out pretty good though.
